Sometimes synths can sound like seagulls and waves crashing on a beach. These sounds have nothing to do with the lyrical content of Show Off. Like most songs on Sandwalk, the lyrics are political. Not overtly so, but political nonetheless. Note: I love singing the word "superlatives."
Musically, this song started with a lot of weird chords and an entirely different rhythm pattern. The key and melody are the lone survivors.

lyrics
Hey, what will this take?
Don't say we made a big mistake.
He showed up with his little tricks
I hope we make the most of it.
Everyone,
Needs a game,
Like poisoning the well we all drink.
Great, he's so great!
Like fate sent him to set us straight.
Broad back and bone spurs.
Speaking in superlatives,
He's so sure.
Everyone,
Needs a game,
Like poisoning the well we all drink.
